Here’s a quick update on anti-social behaviour locally. We know it can be distressing, but we’re working closely with partners to make the area safer and support residents.
Yesterday, Operation YODA took place across West Hendon and Hendon.
Safer Neighbourhood officers joined Barnet Council Community Safety Team, the Corporate Anti Fraud Team and Parking Services to tackle anti social behaviour, suspected drug activity, environmental crime, Blue Badge misuse, parking issues and other community concerns raised by local residents.
Despite heavy rainfall throughout the day, officers carried out high visibility patrols, gathered intelligence, engaged with residents and businesses, and provided reassurance across hotspot locations including Brent Street, Hendon Park, Hendon Central, Queens Mansions and Fuller Street. A community engagement hub was also set up outside Hendon Central Station, where officers spoke with hundreds of residents, commuters and businesses.
Key outcomes included:
• 1 arrest following a stop and search of a wanted individual found in possession of cannabis.
• 1 further stop and search resulting in a Community Resolution/Cannabis Warning.
• 1 vehicle dealt with for parking on a double red route.
• Drug-related stickers advertising the online sale of drugs identified and recorded for further investigation.
• 2 street drinkers moved on from Hendon Park following engagement and words of advice.
• 10 fly tips identified and investigated.
• 2 fly posting offences identified.
• 1 graffiti report submitted for removal.
• 1 highway damage report submitted.
• 27 Blue Badges checked, with 2 seized after officers identified a stolen badge and a badge belonging to a deceased person being used.
• 18 Penalty Charge Notices issued by partner agencies.
• Intelligence gathered to support future policing and partnership activity.
